Determination of material properties of block copolymer solid state electrolytes

Mechanical properties of solid state dual phase block copolymers for electrolytes in lithium ion batteries were studied. Tensile and dynamic mechanical properties of these materials were determined. Heavily branched polymers with long chains possessed the best tensile properties and ionic conductivities. Time-temperature superpositioning was used to determine Williams-Lander-Ferry shift factors. These shift factors were used to explore the mechanism of ionic condition. The applicability of the WLF shift factors indicated that segmental motion affected the conductivity of the polymer electrolytes.
