Wind energy resources in Massachusetts -- a GIS assisted analysis
PúblicoConteúdo disponível para baixar
open in viewerWind power resources in Western Massachusetts are assessed to aid in the siting of wind turbines for that region. We use WindMap, a GIS (Geographic Information Systems)-based software package that solves the continuity equations for a particular region, to produce maps of interpolated wind speed. Then, using Idrisi, a GIS software package, the resulting maps are analyzed for societal and environmental factors to address the suitability of particular locations in Western Massachusetts for wind farms.
