Design of an artificial disc replacement (ADR) from an MRI-based three-dimensional model of the human lumbar spine

Public

The goal of this project is to design an original artificial intervertebral disc replacement using a three-dimensional model of a healthy human intervertebral disc created from MRI data and CAD software. A rigorous engineering design process was followed to create a final design based on a comprehensive list of engineering parameters such as its ability to restore disc height and motion. The design was validated and analyzed using finite element modeling.
