Biotransport in cancellous bone

Brief Cancellous bone is a biphasic tissue consisting of a porous solid matrix and biological fluid. The interactions between the fluid and solid components define the structure and function of cancellous bone. The purpose of this MQP was to design and conduct an experiment and test fixtures to quantify the transport and material properties of this tissue, specifically the porosity and intrinsic permeability. This information can be used to optimize advancements in treating bone diseases, injuries, and engineered tissues.
