Comparing the effectiveness of MineSet and Intelligent Miner in knowledge extraction

Public

Data mining is the process of discovering useful knowledge from large amounts of raw data. The primary goal of this project was to compare two commercial data mining packages: IBM's Intelligent Miner and SGI's MineSet, using association rule and decision tree mining techniques as a basis. The main factors evaluated were ease of use, overall performance, and the presentation of results. To accomplish this, both packages were used to mine identical data sets and the results were then compared.
