Analysis of a modular fixture design for a family of parts

Public

In manufacturing, the ability to use a flexible fixture design that works with numerous parts is very important from a productivity and cost standpoint, but the modularization of fixtures for a family of parts is dependent on several criteria. This project develops a method and general set of guidelines and rules for analyzing fixtures and part families so that appropriate feature changes can successfully be made to modularize a fixture. A Delphi ABS valve family and a corresponding fixture are used to demonstrate the techniques and display the results of the applied method that was used.
