Alternative structural and fire protection designs of a 4-story office building

Public

The purpose of this project was to make cost comparisons of alternative fire, structural, and construction designs for a four-story office building. The comparisons were based on economics and functionality, and the selected systems were established as a primer for an architect. Prescriptive code-based analyses of the building were conducted using the International building code 2003. Additionally, the SFPE handbook was used to evaluate the performance of the fire protection systems.
