Analysis of acoustic automobile noise received by hands-free microphones in a car

Public

This project examined the effect of automobile noise on hands-free microphone systems. A detailed methodology was used to generate a noise database from six different automobiles. These noises were categorized using statistical analysis such as stationarity, periodicity, variance, and signal power. The different acoustics of automobiles were characterized as a result of this analysis . Noise reduction algorithms were tested on the signals and their effectiveness was evaluated. Through this analysis it was concluded that periodic, stationary noise could be removed using the types of filters implemented in this project.
