Design and control of a 3-stage capacitor-driven inductive coil gun

Public

This report presents the design and control of a 3-stage capacitor-driven inductive coil gun. A computer model is developed for simulation, prediction and optimization. This model provides launch simulation as well as the electrical transient state of the coil gun by means of equivalent circuit equations. The circuitry of the launcher is developed to charge and fire each stage sequentially. A hybrid computer system is implemented to control the launcher maneuvering the features a user interface and a velocity meter.
