Swimming performance vs. morphology in the cichlid fish Nannacara anomala

Público

Not all fish swim equally well. Some fish have better short-term swimming while others display better endurance. This project investigates whether performance of Nannacara anomala relates to morphological differences in body shape, fin size, length or weight. I tested swimming performance in a flow tank, which allowed water velocity control. This was then compared to morphological measurements. These data provide a better understanding of fish performance and may also provide a better understanding of behavioral aspects of N. anomala.
