Characterization of a field emission cathode

Public

This project investigated the current-voltage characteristic of a field emission cathode under various operating conditions. The main objectives were the preparation of a vacuum facility, design and fabrication of a Probe Positioning System, and measurement of the current-voltage characteristic. Testing showed that the FEC performed at various levels of efficiency depending upon the testing conditions. The current collected by the probe increased as its bias increased and distance to the cathode decreased.
