Space trusses in gymnasium roof systems

Public

This report is an investigation into the use of space trusses in a typical high school gymnasium. The program Visual Analysis? was utilized to determine the member stresses and deflections of both planar and space trusses. The trusses were designed according to the Load and Resistance Factor Design Method, and were evaluated for strength and cost efficiency. The space truss designs were compared to planar truss designs and were found to be less cost efficient.
