Enhancement of a monitoring device

Public

The purpose of this Major Qualifying Project was to design a device for pregnant women to monitor contractions. This device would be used to record contraction duration times and contraction interval times as well as send the stored contraction data to a romote personal computer via a telephone line. The contraction monitor used an Axiom CME-11A8 single board computer and a Motorola 68HC11A8 microprocessor to control the device. The primary input device was a keypad and the primary output was a liquid crystal display (LCD). Along with the LCD as an output a modem was also integrated into the device to send the stored data.
