Design of a System for the Creation of Biaxially Aligned Fibrin Microthread Scaffolds for Cardiac Regeneration
PublicContenu téléchargeable
open in viewerFibrin microthread scaffolds have been researched for cardiac regeneration. The project goal was to design an automated scaffold production system that would achieve more consistent thread alignment and spacing than the current manual method. The system included a grooved suction alignment device, transfer frame, and final composite formation mold. Structural tests were performed to compare the thread spacing of the automated and manual scaffolds. Mechanical tests were used to compare the maximum load the scaffold samples could sustain. Statistical analyses confirmed the automated system achieved reproducible scaffold fabrication. Therefore, the system fabricates reproducibly aligned fibrin microthread composite scaffolds.
