Instrumental analysis of p8/RNA complexes

Public

Turnip crinkle virus protein p8 has been shown to cooperatively bind RNA in vitro. Current techniques for analyzing this protein/RNA interaction have inherent limitations, including time required to perform the assay and lack of quantitative data. Capillary electrophoresis (CE) was evaluated as a potential platform to overcome these shortcomings, ideally providing both rapid analysis and quantifiable data. Due to several complicating factors, a CE assay is shown to be too difficult to perform and analyze to be of practical value.
