The living and learning laboratory model is an academic or campus-based initiative that addresses sustainability tracks or research opportunities generated from within the local community. WPI has begun development of its own living and learning laboratory model: The Sustainability Laboratory for Living and Learning (SL3). This report details research on other living laboratories, how local and campus partners can be sources of synergy, and strategies for expanding and developing WPI’s SL3. We have developed recommendations and a framework that builds beneficial relationships between local partners, the student body, school staff, and faculty.

  • This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
