Development of analytical tools for assessing environmental quality in marine ecosystems

Public

We developed complimentary analytical tools for examining the quality of marine ecosystems and the growth rate potential (GRP) of fish. Using acoustic data analysis and RNA/DNA ratios, we examined prey availability, historic growth rates and recent fish growth. A software package was designed to analyze the backscatter values of three frequencies: 12 kHz, 38 kHz, and 120 kHz. This report develops a set of guidelines for the proper collection of tissue samples from the field.
