An evaluation of the machining operations for specific parts
PublicIn an effort to reduce production cost at Saeilo Manufacturing Industries (SMI) our MQP group evaluated and redesigned the milling operations for three specific parts, namely a trigger, gun grip and sling swivel. During this evaluation, it was found that their current fixtures only hold a maximum of two parts for a particular setup, this increased cost. A production process for constructing the fixture components was developed. Designing new tool paths shortened the tool paths for each machining process. It is anticipated that our fixtures will reduce production cost by 35%.
