Biofouling in Nuclear Power Plants: A Preliminary Exploration

Pubblico

The process of biofouling can have devastating effects on efficiency and production, and nuclear power plants are particularly susceptible. To combat this issue, a better understanding of biofilm development on the walls of industrial heat exchangers is needed. The goal of this project was to offer preliminary exploration of biofilm growth in this environment. With the help of Laboratoire Réactions et Génie des Procédés (LRGP), freshwater sources were sampled and characteristic analyses were performed, considering potential microbial growth.
