Ultra violet scanner for the enhancement of the readability of damaged parchments

Public

Many ancient manuscripts have become nearly impossible to read over time due to poor conservation leading to mold growth. Through research it has been found that UV light can penetrate the mold and also increase the clarity of the ink traces on the parchment through fluorescence. The goal of our project is to retrofit an off-the-shelf scanner with a UV light source in order to scan these parchments and preserve the information they contain.
