Informal education occurs in a variety of different environments and informal learning centers present information to students in different ways. A method is needed to assess the learning progress of students with disabilities in informal education. Current methods of formal and informal assessment were examined through a literature review and interviews with various mainstream, special and informal educators. Information obtained was used to develop a list of recommendations for future project teams to use to create and apply a successful assessment method for students with disabilities in informal learning environments. Results are presented in matrix form and give recommendations for educators to consider before, during and after field trips to informal learning centers.
