Worcester community-based organizations often experience a lack of a consistent and long-term flow of volunteers. The goal of this project was to recommend a sustainable volunteering structure connecting student volunteers to these organizations. This project worked with the Central Community Branch YMCA as a pilot and recruited students to assist with the YMCA after-school program. Student volunteers took part in a pilot training session prior to the program. Interviews with the YMCA administration, student volunteers, and other stakeholders guided the implementation and evaluation of the pilot volunteer program. After the evaluation of this data, recommendations were made, focusing on improving communication, recruitment, training, transportation, and volunteer training and orientation.
