WPI's Project JANUS -- a new admissions building

Public

WPI needs a new admissions building. In recognition of that fact, $5 million has been allocated to designing and constructing a new building consistent with the image and purpose of the school. This report provides an analysis of the costs of structural steel and heavy timber construction, design in steel, potential floor plans and exterior design, a tentative cost estimate, and project duration for a new 15,500 square foot admissions building to be placed in the current parking lot between Alumni Gymnasium and Riley Hall. Due to timing conflicts, this project was an exercise in design as the actual building was already in the final design phases. The plans and ideas contained in this report provide the WPI Board of Trustees with a valuable comparison and emphasize the need for continual development of the campus.

  • This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
