This project describes the conditions of the fire departments of Martha's Vineyard Island and assesses ways in which they could be improved. Working from literature and interviews, we describe methods for improved service and a quantitative analysis of the potential benefits of full-time personnel. We evaluate whether a large scale consolidation or the addition of full-time personnel would be beneficial to the island and if the island has the capabilities to implement these changes.
