Higgins Labs HVAC design

HVAC design deals with the use of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to control the environment inside a building regardless of the conditions that exist outside. This project is a preliminary HVAC design of the ground floor of Higgins Labs as if it were a single story industrial facility containing offices, laboratories, and clean rooms. It includes a general building overview and computer analysis to determine heating and cooling loads. Systems design takes into consideration indoor air quality, temperature and humidity constraints, industrial ventilation, and relative pressurization. Calculations through the use of computer software determine pressure losses through ducting and piping. Equipment selection includes rooftop units, heat pumps, exhaust fans, a steam to water heat exhanger system, and an evaporative cooler. 2-D and 3-D engineering drawings show the placement of supply, return, and exhaust ducting, and selected equipment.
