Albania has strong potential for solar photovoltaics as a solution to its energy crisis. Working with the UNDP in its solar market transformation initiative, we sought to understand the perspectives of food processors in and around Tirana regarding current and future investment in photovoltaics. We found that food manufacturers often lack an in-depth understanding of photovoltaics. Interviews with banks revealed dedicated programs to assist businesses in investing in photovoltaics. Interviews with installers revealed different business partnerships with banks. We determined factors that inhibit photovoltaic adoption, using that information to develop a web application with a solar calculator and resource pages about whether and how to install solar to help inform businesses.
