Ribozyme viral infection of Hct116 cells

Público

Ribozymes are being researched because of the clues they provide about evolutionary history, and the possibilities they provide as therapy against many viruses and certain types of cancer. The purpose of this project was to create a mutagenesis gene discovery system for identifying genes that block apoptosis using a randomized hammerhead ribozyme library. There were three main steps to this project: creating a randomized hammerhead ribozyme library, packaging the library in a retroviral vector, and infecting Hctl 16 cells for mutagenesis. The ribozyme library was proven to be correctly constructed and randomized, as well as capable of being packaged and able to infect cells.
