Design construction of pulsatile flow generator

Public

The goal of this project was to create a device that facilitates the study of arterial pressure waveforms produced by a simulated cardiovascular system. A pulsatile flow was produced using a rotating cam, modeled after the human pulse. The system's practical application is to measure changes in the pressure waveform due to varying degrees of arterial occlusion and stiffness. The resulting data demonstrate a correlation between the obstruction of the sample and changes in the higher harmonics of the pressure waveform.
