Development of an experimental system to characterize heavy metal transport ATPases in plants

Public

The goal of this MQP was to develop the necessary methodology to initiate the characterization of six heavy metal transport ATPases found in Arabidopsis thaliana. Growth of Arabidopsis thaliana in an MS salt media, optimal subtoxic metal ion level (50 uM CuSO4, 50 uM ZnSO4, and 10 uM CdCl2), And RNA extraction were standardized. Two probes were designed for two genes (AAD29115, AAD12041). A Northern blot of the target genes was performed.
