FK 506 is an immunosuppressant drug used to treat autoimmune disease and to prevent organ graft rejection. The purpose of this project was to discover FK506-sensitive and FK506-insensitive genes. T-cells from human whole blood were stimulated by antibodies and treated with FK506. Red blood cells were lysed, and RNA extracted from the white blood cells was used to run gene expression analysis by GeneChip microarrays and qPCR. 6 FK506-sensitive and 6 FK506-insentitive genes were discovered and validated.
