Mapping a gene involved in topographic mapping

Public

Our project's goal was to map a gene involved in topographic mapping in the Caenorhabditis elegans nematode. We describe a mutation, nu385, which distorts the topographically mapped IL2 sensory neurons. After performing crosses and tabulating segregation of marker phenotypes, we determined that nu385 was most likely linked to chromosome IV. nu385 was clearly not linked to several regions of chromosome IV; however, more trials are needed to find the exact region containing nu385.
