Numerical simulation of the confined nematic to isotropic phase transition

Public

Previously, Marroum, et al. (1) carried out a numerical analysis of the N-I phase transition incorporating surface anchoring, bulk elastic, and external field contributions for a cylindrically confined liquid crystal. We will resurrect this approach to analyze the N-I transition in a liquid crystal confined to a planar geometry. (1) R.M. Marroum, G.S. Iannacchione, D. Finotello, and M. Lee, Phys. Rev.
