Development of a cell lysis assay for natural killer cells

Public

The purpose of this project was to develop a novel in vitro culture method to enrich the natural killer (NK) cell population of an existing bioreactor system. A nonradioactive cell lysis protocol was also developed to assay NK functional activity. The data showed that this assay was a suitable substitute for the standard radioactive chromium-51 assay, and that functional NK cells were indeed produced in the culture system. The identity of the NK cells was further confirmed by FACS analysis.
