Inventory management for lean manufacturing at General Electric

This Major Qualifying Project involves developing an information system that generates reports used to improve inventory management at General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) in Lynn, Mass. The development life cycle of this project involves determining GEAE's current methods of obtaining inventory information and analyzing technology's role in improving those methods. This information system uses database technology to provide GEAE with a knowledge management tool, which contributes to substantial improvements of efficiency in GEAE's manufacturing operation.
