With the rise of the aging population with arthritis there is an increase in demand for assistive devices. These devices however are not designed with the consideration of sustainability and given the environmental imperative to reduce waste designers must shift to sustainable design. This project responds to the need to meet the demand of a growing market for assistive devices in a less wasteful, more sustainable way. To do that a sustainable model for design is created and applied to a case study of an assistive device called Frannie.
