Aerosol based delivery of epithelial cells

This project proposes ultrasonic atomization as a feasible method for the delivery of ciliated epithelial cells to the human trachea. This is an innovative process that utilizes the surfactant Pluronic F127 as the carrier for these cells. It also provides the results from research into cell viability and cell density per unit area, which are important factors for developing optimum application procedures. Hopefully this research will one day repair damaged cilia and help alleviate complications caused by smoke inhalation.
