T6α EFFECTOR FUNCTIONS AND MEMORY RESPONSE

open in viewerThe purpose of this project was to analyze the function of a newly discovered subtype of CD8+ cell in mice, the T6-alpha subtype. Through assays of in vitro stimulation, cytotoxicity, and secondary memory responses in vivo, we explored the function of the T6-alpha subset of CD8+ T- cells. The data show that in response to an influenza virus infection in mice, the T6-alpha cells produce large quantities of IFN-gamma, lesser amounts of IL-2, and no detectable TNF- alpha and IL17. Future experiments focusing on T6- alpha kinetics and in vivo function could aid in development of future immune treatments.
