Individual variation in bioenergetics of steelhead

Public

This study asks: 1) is there individual variation in maximum consumption rates, 2) do respiration and maximum consumption rates correlate, and 3) do adult models of maximum consumption apply to juveniles? We measured respiration and maximum consumption on twenty-six juvenile steelheads. These data show 1) individual variation in maximum consumption, 2) no correlation between respiration and maximum consumption, and 3) adult-models for maximum consumption do not work well for juveniles. We developed a new model for juvenile steelhead.
