The goal of this project was to create a device that would assist in alleviating tempo problems that occur when a digital sample is used during a live performance. While completing this goal, three new algorithms, beat detection, time stretching, and note detection, were developed. Utilizing these new algorithms, a device was constructed that is able to playback digital samples, and adjust their playing speed to match that of a monitored drummer.
