Acoustic digital communications

Public

A system was created which allows digital communication over the acoustic channel in real time. This was accomplished using the TI TMS320C6713 floating-point digital signal processor. In order to transmit and receive digital data acoustically through a speaker and microphone, the acoustic channel's characteristics were modeled using an adaptive filtering algorithm. Digital communication was established using BPSK and QPSK modulation. A BPSK receiver was designed using a non-coherent receiver based on correlation and a QPSK receiver was designed using a phase-locked loop. The final non-coherent BPSK system produced a data rate of 282.47 symbols per second with a data rate of 9.24 x 10. The final coherent BPSK system produced a data rate of 400 symbols per second with an error rate of 1.1 x 10?.
