Numerical simulation of unsteady jets

Public

Turbulent jets have many applications in fluid mixing and combustion problems. This project focused on the development and implementation of a simple one-dimensional model for unsteady turbulent jets. The results of the simulations were compared to several experiments with unsteady jets. The numerical simulation was developed from a set of existing conservation law routines known as CLAWPACK. It is shown that the model predicts the major features of the velocity field very well, but shows no agreement with the concentration profiles.
