For the last century and a half, the doppler effect has been used to develop tools to help us measure velocities and distances, whether that be how far away a galaxy is or how fast it is going on the highway. Doppler radar has been one of the most effective tools in determining how fast an object is traveling and how far away it is from a radar unit. We use it in everyday life, when the weather man tells us the forecast, police use it to track speeding, and even our cars now use it to helps us prevent accidents. By looking at the Fourier transforms of wave signals we see the frequencies within said signal that can be used to calculate the distance between a radar unit and an object. With the discovery of this technology we have been able to forward scientific discoveries and will continue to throughout the future
