Engineered molds for net shape manufacturing

Public

The integral component of this investigation was evaluating the feasibility of using silicone molds for the near net shape manufacture of poured epoxy grinding wheels in an economical and efficient manner. Development of the two-part, two-component mold equips Norton Company with a tool to satisfy customers' requirements for flexibility in product development programs. The fundamental objectives of this project included designing and fabricating a silicone mold and using it to achieve near net shape manufacture of epoxy grinding wheels, without release difficulties.
