Biodefense: white light as a defense

Public

This Major Qualifying Project used the bacterium Bacillus subtilis as a surrogate for Bacillus anthracis to determine the efficacy of pulsed white light as an investigating agent against the bacterial spore in dry conditions and in water. The goals of this part of the project were to discover if pulsed white light is useful in these conditions and also to eliminate the possibility that the spores are being inactivated simply by the heat produced by the light.
