States in the Colorado Basin, particularly California, are diverting water for agricultural and urban purposes. Salinity in the Colorado River has become an increasingly serious issue as more water is consumed. Information on Colorado River water use and salinity changes was obtained from government web sites. California's use has decreased recently, but is still above the state's allotment. Some water projects proved beneficial in reducing water usage slightly, but they were not enough to drastically reduce the use and salinity of the water.
