The rhetoric of the doctor patient relationship -- analysis of communication models in medicine

Public

The purpose of this project is to examine how professional communication between physicians and patients takes place during the medical encounter. This research examines the history of medicine; specifically how scientific discoveries have lead to changes in the doctor/patient relationship. Different theoretical models of communication between patients and physicians are examined and some barriers that prevent good communication are introduced. An original model for patient/doctor communication and some possible solutions to these issues are offered.
