Light scattering studies of diffusion in polyethylene oxide-water

The light scattering mode structure and the diffusive properties of polyethylene oxide (PEO): water were studied. The techniques of quasielastic light scattering spectroscopy (QELSS). static light scattering, and probe diffusion were used. PEO was found to exhibit a visible slow mode, in QELSS, starting a 4g/L PEO. PEO has also been found to form aggregates in solution. Large polystyrene-latex spheres in PEO: water solutions were found to obey the Stokes-Einstein relation.
