Cementation device for total knee arthroplasty

Public

The project team designed, prototyped, and tested a device to improve tibial component cementation for a Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). The designers formulated several functional specifications based on their research of the TKA, created a device fulfilling these specifications, and evaluated the device based on experimental and computational measures. The cementation device both facilitates orthopedic surgeons in removing excess cement around the periphery of the prosthesis and improves the efficacy of the TKA as a treatment of degenerative knee disorders.
