Our IQP was undertaken to help the Old Sturbridge Village research staff gain more knowledge on the Blackstone Canal. We covered the initial organization of the Blackstone Canal Company as well as the construction of the Blackstone Canal. Also, the IQP discusses the effect the railroad had on the closing of the Blackstone Canal. Information was gathered from local newspapers from the time period of the canal and from historical books discussing the Blackstone Canal.
