Proton precession magnetometer

Public

The goal of this project was to develop the signal sensing and measurement circuitry needed for the implementation of a portable proton precession magnetometer capable of measuring a surrounding magnetic field by detecting precession of protons in a body of distilled water surrounded by a coil that polarizes the protons. The front end of the system comprises a low noise analog amplifier and a narrow-band digital filter. The back end of the project was a frequency counter with display to show the frequency of the signal coming from the front end. All required circuits were designed, constructed, and characterized during the course of the project.
